Embroidered hi-vis workwear
Embroidery is the hard-wearing way to put your business name on hi-vis. The logo is stitched into the fluorescent fabric, so it survives industrial washing, sunscreen and the odd scrape against a ute tray far better than a transfer. We embroider hi-vis polos, drill shirts, hoodies and jackets in Australia, from our base in Mordialloc VIC, and despatch Australia-wide.
Which hi-vis garments suit embroidery
- Hi-vis polos: micromesh and cotton-back polos take a left-chest logo cleanly. This is the most common embroidered hi-vis order we see.
- Hi-vis drill shirts: heavy cotton drill is the ideal base for embroidery. We stitch above the pocket, not through the pocket flap, so the pocket still opens.
- Hi-vis hoodies and fleece: chest embroidery works well on 310–450 gsm fleece. For a big back logo we usually suggest a print instead.
- Hi-vis jackets: softshells take embroidery well. Fully seam-sealed rain jackets are usually printed, because needle holes can let water in.
- Hi-vis vests: thin knitted vests pucker under stitching, so we print vests rather than embroider them.
Keeping the logo off the reflective tape
We stitch on the fluorescent fabric only: left or right chest, sleeve, or the back yoke above the tape. Covering retroreflective tape reduces the area that shows up at night, so we don't do it. Each product page lists the standard the manufacturer says the garment meets (for example day, night or day/night use). If your principal contractor has rules on logo size or position, send them through and we'll follow them on the proof.
What it costs
Embroidery is charged on top of the garment price: $12 per garment for a front logo (up to 6,000 stitches, a typical left-chest logo), $20 for a back logo (up to 15,000 stitches) and a one-off $59 setup per logo to digitise it. All prices + GST. The minimum is 5 decorated garments, and you can mix sizes and colours in that 5.
If you'd rather have one price that includes everything, the Hi-Vis Polo Deal is 5 polos with your logo printed front and back for $220 + GST with free delivery. Deals are printed (DTF), not embroidered.

Common questions
Navy or black thread on yellow hi-vis?
Both read well. Navy suits two-tone yellow/navy garments; black gives the strongest contrast on plain fluoro. We show the thread colours on your proof.
Do embroidered hi-vis garments come in women's cuts?
Yes. Several hi-vis polos and shirts come in women's cuts, and they take the same embroidery so the crew matches.
Is embroidery or print better for hi-vis?
Embroidery for chest logos on polos, shirts and fleece. Print for large back logos, vests and waterproof jackets. Many crews use both. Read more on our embroidery page.
